Give Peace a Chance

*
I want to thank everyone who left such heartfelt and thoughtful comments on yesterday’s ABC Wednesday post.
*
How very ironic that yesterday afternoon, the body of our 97th fallen soldier, Sgt. Prescott (Scott) Shipway arrived at CFB Trenton to take that solemn journey down the Highway of Heroes to Toronto, Ontario.
*
My opinion on this war will be kept personal; but I wanted everyone to see and know that we Canadians honour and respect our armed forces and we will never forget their bravery.
*
On this day, the anniversary of 9/11/01, I thought maybe I would show you why we must HAVE PEACE NOW.
*
What better way to say GIVE PEACE A CHANCE than to learn the names and see the pictures of our Canadian HEROES.
*
If you have a few minutes, all the names and photos of our brave Canadian HEROES can be seen here.
These 98 photographs are of the 97 Canadian soldiers and the one Canadian diplomat who have lost their lives in Afghanistan since the deployment in 2002.

This is a lovely and fitting tribute.

I have a feeling I'm going to shed a lot of tears today as I view and read so many tributes to those lost.

Great post Bear on this day that makes us all remember how our worlds changed so on this day 7 years ago and to remember those that continue to pay with their lives in the ensuing madness.

I love this bear. Wow.

This old soldier really enjoyed your post about your Canadian Heroes.

My Sky Watch Friday blog is at my Canon Pixels blog. If you have time I would appreciate your having a look at the sky peeking through the oak tree leaves.

Quite so Bear . . I think with all the US media coverage, we forget that there are other nations involved in the conflicts abroad.

I must agree - a beautiful and fitting tribute to our Canadian heros. I wish wish wish we'd just Give Peace A Chance (thanks John Lennon).

Oh, so many ideas and feelings around this issue. But like you've pointed out so rightly, it's not just an issue, it's about people. Hopefully it gets resolved. Hopefully no one else dies.

Peace lady. Peace.
