A Picture is Worth

-------------------------------A Thousand Words-------------------------
*
A few months ago for our anniversary, our daughter and son-in-law gave my husband and I a gift certificate for a photography session with a local photo studio here in our home town.
Because I was still recuperating from my accident and surgery, we kept postponing an appointment with the studio until now.
*
Of course, you know that I will definitely have my hair styled on the day we schedule a session with the photographer. And I just might have my make-up done professionally also.
*
Since we want this to be a more formal portrait; I am wondering if I should wear my black lace dress or would something more colourful be better? My husband will be wearing a black suit and white shirt with a grey and black tie.
*
So what does every one think?
Any and all suggestions and/or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Black lace sounds rather formal. I imagine you as rather a carefree person so maybe something more casual would suit better.

Actually, I think your black lace dress sounds beautiful next to your husbands black suit. Another thought is a white or red dress....also really nice next to hubby. No matter what, I think you'll look wonderful....

Why would you want a more formal portrait? Wouldn't it be much nicer to have ones picture professionally taken and wear something you like and feel very comfortably in?

I think black lace would like nice but, personnally, I imagine you in something more colourful. Whatever you decide I hope we get to see it please.

the black lace sounds lovely, maybe with a very colorful accessory

and I think having your make-up done professionally is a great idea and a treat. one sugestion from personal experience is - have a test make-up session and take a photo. I did that for my son's wedding - the first application of make-up made me look like a 2 bit whore especially on camera

and heaven knows I'm more expensive than that! ;)

a great gift from your kids!!

I think what you wear depends on what style of portrait you want taken. Formal? - then yes, the black lace dress for sure with your husband in a suit. If more casual, then dress a little more casual... Either way you go, what a nice gift! you'll have to post the result!!

Black lace would be lovely with hubby's black suit.

Be comfortable and look natural. I think you will be happiest with the end result if your colors or outfit shows who you really are.
Black lace does sound lovely.

I vote for the black - a photo friend of mine (pro, not rank amateur like moi) said the best group photos are the ones where everyone is dressed in the same color family, no matter what that color family is. So I vote for the black. And as MPM said - you gotta show!

I know this is a little late, but it's as clear and clear can be. You've got to go BEAR NAKED!! LOL!

O.K. seriously - whatever you feel comfortable in. I would probably choose a colour, as I think all black might look toooooo serious.
