I'm Drinking From My Saucer

This was sent to me in an e-mail from a very dear friend.

I've never made a fortune,
And it's probably too late now.
But I don't worry about that much,
I'm happy anyhow
And I go along life's way,
I'm reaping better than I sowed.

I'm drinking from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.

Haven't got a lot of riches,
And sometimes the going's tough
But I've got loving ones all around me,
And that makes me rich enough.
I thank God for his blessings,
And the mercies
He's bestowed.

I'm drinking from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.

I remember times when things went wrong,
My faith wore somewhat thin.
But all at once the dark clouds broke,
And the sun peeped through again
So Lord, help me not to gripe,
About the tough rows I have hoed.

I'm drinking from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.

If God gives me strength and courage,
When the way grows steep and rough.
I'll not ask for other blessings,
I'm already blessed enough.
And may I never be too busy,
To help others BEAR their loads.

Then I'll keep drinking from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.

What a lovely thought. I too often focus on the little things that are going wrong and not on the saucer that is truly overflowing. Thanks for the reminder.

Good advice in that poem - we all need a reminder to focus on the good things in life and let the bad things go.

Very much my story, as well. And I needed to remember that today, as I was in an auto accident on my way to work - no injuries, as minimal damage as one could want considering how I was hit - and have been feeling a bit blue about my lovely car.

Thanks, Bear!

its okay to drink from the saucer as long as one keeps that little pinkie up tall. (besides everyone knows thats the only way one can drink hot tea without burning one;s tongue.)

Great message. Thanks for reminding me to drink from the saucer. My cup is overflowing. But sometimes I forget. Have a great weekend.

Yes indeed, we do need to count our blessings from time to time.

Ooo, I like this.
A positive twist on life is what we all need.
I am drinking from my saucer because my cup has overflowed.
Life is good.

Thanks for the reminder, Bear. I have many blessings to be thankful for and sometimes get to feeling sorry for myself and tend to forget that. Big hugs and Thanks again!
