Oh TANNENBAUM, oh TANNENBAUM,
Wie grün sind deine Blätter!
Du grünst nicht nur zur Sommerzeit,
Nein auch im Winter, wenn es schneit.
Oh TANNENBAUM, oh TANNENBAUM,
Wie grün sind deine Blätter!
*
Oh TANNENBAUM, oh TANNENBAUM,
Du kannst mir sehr gefallen!
Wie oft hat schon zur Winterzeit
Ein Baum von dir mich hoch erfreut!
TANNENBAUM, oh TANNENBAUM,
Du kannst mir sehr gefallen!
*
Oh TANNENBAUM, oh TANNENBAUM,
Dein Kleid will mich was lehren:
Die Hoffnung und Beständigkeit
Gibt Mut und Kraft zu jeder Zeit!
Oh TANNENBAUM, oh TANNENBAUM,
Dein Kleid will mich was lehren!

O Christmas TREE, O Christmas TREE,
Your branches green delight us.
O Christmas TREE, O Christmas TREE,
Your branches green delight us.
They're green when summer days are bright;
They're green when winter snow is white.
O, Christmas TREE, O Christmas TREE,
Your branches green delight us!
*
O Christmas TREE, O Christmas TREE,
You give us so much pleasure!
O Christmas TREE, O Christmas TREE,
You give us so much pleasure!
How oft at Christmas tide the sight,
O green fir TREE, gives us delight!
O Christmas TREE, O Christmas TREE,
You give us so much pleasure!

The custom of erecting a Christmas TREE can be traced to 16th century Germany.
It is normally a coniferous TREE that is brought into the home and decorated with lights and ornaments.
An angel or star is often placed at the top of the TREE, representing the host of angels or the Star of Bethlehem from the Nativity story.

French Translation(Premier couplet)
"Mon beau sapin, roi des forêts
Que j'aime ta verdure
Quand par l'hiver, bois et guérêts
Sont dépouillés de leurs attraits
Mon beau sapin, roi des forêts
Tu gardes ta parure"
And a bear beneath it? ;-)

I just wanted to pop in and say hi. I have seen you at my fairly new reads (Midlifeslices and SmartMouthBroad) and thought I would check your blog out.
I, too, love bears. I 'forced' myself to limit my collecting to only Boyds Bears and have well over 200. I am ashamed that I have lost count. In fact I haven't added to my collection in a couple of years! Mayhaps visiting your blog will get my a** in gear once again! LOL
Perfect for T and the holiday season.
I just love how you always have the PERFECT bear(s) for every possible post!

Good one!
I never knew the words to that song . . . in English OR German.
8-)
TAILS AND TATTLETALES
We used to sing that song in chorus in elementary school in German..I wonder how bad we really sounded..LOL
Terrifically tremendous!
Never read/heard the english version of it!
But I enjoyed to read that the english version makes a lot more sense then the german! LOL LOL
The second line (Wie gruen sind deine Blätter) is (litarally) translated:
How green your leafs are!
Pardon, LEAFS? At a fir tree? Used to puzzle me greatly as a child! LOL
