ABC Wednesday--Y

Yogi Bear and his friend Boo Boo
sport green pork-pie hats and ties.
*
As we all know, Yogi is
"smarter than the average bear."
*
Yogi Bear was named after
New York Yankee
player and manager Yogi Berra.
*
*
*
Yes, it is ABC Wednesday over at Mrs. Nesbitt's place.
Just head over there to learn how to participate.
******************
******************
Yogi Bear’s personality was loosely modeled after Art Carney’s Ed Norton character on “The Honeymooners.”
That is the reason why Yogi's hat is similar to the hat that Ed Norton wore.
*
*
Originally created as a back-up segment on The Huckleberry Hound Show, Yogi Bear is one of the most popular Hanna-Barbera stars of all time, rivaled only by The Flintstones and Scooby-Doo.
*
*
Yogi Bear and Boo Boo originally appeared on the Huckleberry Hound Show in 1958 and by 1961 Yogi had his own show.
Yogi's voice was done by Daws Butler and Boo Boo's was done by Don Messick.
*
*
Yogi Bear lived in Jellystone National Park with his sidekick
Boo Boo, who served as Yogi's conscience.
Yogi Bear's ocassional girl-friend was Cindy Bear.
Yogi Bear's adventures mainly centered on his obsession with stealing picnic baskets and his ability to confound Ranger Smith.

Loved Yogi Bear and used to watch the cartoon faithfully. This is a really original use of the letter Y. It works with your bear theme too. Great stuff.

Bears are always nice subjects in children'sbooks. Paddington, Winnie the Poo, were a few of them and I loved the Rupert The Bear stories. Good choice!

Oh yes, you've brought back memories of the cartoons for me too. I haven't been reading blogs for a week and there was so much to catch up on. Love your posts and all those gorgeous bears.

Oh wow! LOL! WHy didn't Bob tell me "Yogi" when I was trying to think of a "y"?? LOL! Mind you, he's been pre-occupied with pants the last few days. (For a change.)

I used to get so angry with Ranger Smith. Even as a young lad I had ideals about justice, I felt the good Ranger was too harsh on my favorite bears!
Great post! And yes thanks for the memories!
David
btw, your kind warm comments the past week have been so appreciated. Both Janet and I thank you. It means everything to us

You've just managed to reference some of my favorite characters...Ed Norton and the entire cast of the Honeymooners. Thank goodness for TV Land - I watch them even today. Huckleberry Hound, Yogi (and I had no idea he had a quasi-girlfriend named Cindy, but I also have a bad memory). Love them all.

You sure do bring back some good memories of a much easier, simpler time. Thank you.
