Gargantuan Garbage Dilemma

We have a gigantic problem this week with our garbage.
Well not with the garbage itself but with the trash can that we use.
Or should I say USED to use.

What happened was that last week; one of the trash collectors who emptied our plastic garbage can broke the darn thing.
Wheels on the bottom of the can-----gone, handles--—knocked off and the rim-----broken in several spots.
The poor fellow must have had an argument that morning; either with his wife and/or his boss.
Or perhaps he just needs to take a Stress Management course.

So, we purchased a new garbage can this week made from heavyweight galvanized steel with heavy-duty handles and no attached wheels.
The question to all my readers out there:

Just how do you throw away an old broken trash can?
I’m worried that they won’t take it away.
Now I am getting stressed out.

Just set it out "with a note to trash it" or they keep leaving it - from the voice of exp.:)

It must be tough lugging the new heavy duty can to the curb! It sounds like a monster! No wheels!!!!!

How is it that plastic is indestructable only when you want to trash it? Run over it and it will bounce back, set fire to it and it will just become a huge hunk of plastic and the fumes'll kill ya.

Give the guys a beary sweet smile and a tip...

I would put a note on it, and hope they take it. What is it with those guys? I actually called Town Hall a few weeks ago to complain about them. There was more garbage left on the street than they actually collected in their truck.

The note is probably the best idea, but another one is to stuff it in the back of your car and put it in a commercial dumpster.

Of course, you'll want to do this under cover of darkness. If you need tips on how to trespass and not get caught, I'm your gal.

I am constantly amazed at how you find these bear pictures that perfectly match what you're writing about.

I tried for 3 weeks to get them to pick on up, and I had to put a note on it after the 3rd time. Once I put it in another can so they'd take it away.

I think you should write the word TRASH in spray paint, or on a piece of paper and afix it to the can! Also, turn it upside down. Hopefully they will take it away! Don't worry about it though! How are those 400 thread count sheets working out for you?

Good question. Our trash guys are VERY picky about what they consider trash and will take away. Good luck with that. (I have to have wheels on my trash cans though, otherwise it would be up to my dh to always deal with the trash. Of course I have to fight the trashcans out of that horrible mess of a garage anyway..)

Let see what you can do with a garbage can that isn't usable.

1. Call the garbage company and when they make there round and tell them you need gone.
Plus leave a tape note to the can so your garbage haulers can see it.

2. Can you take it directly to the dump or land field. Not sure which term they use in your area.

Coffee is on.

I would write a note in BIG BLOCK letters and tape it to the dead can:

PLEASE SEND THIS TRASHCAN TO CAN HEAVEN.

Plan A: drag it to the center of your yard, fill it with dirt and plant flowers in it.

Plan B: Call the police and report it as an abandoned stripped vehicle and have it towed.

Plan C: Call the city trash people and ask them how to get rid of it, (here in LA one calls and schedules a pickup of "large trash" that doesn't fit with the normal weekly pickups.)

You could break it in smaller pieces and throw it in the new trash can!

Come to think of it maybe my Norwegian trolls can let it disappear! They are really good at letting things disappear.

You're right. They won't take it. A trash can, no matter how bad the condition, is the hardest thing in the world to get rid of.
