We are in the market for new sheets for our master bedroom so I have been doing some much needed research on purchasing bedding.
*
The one thing that I do know is that I will have to pay careful attention to the deep pocket size of the fitted sheet for the mattress we own. If I am going to spend a substantial amount of money for new bedding I want to be sure that the fitted bottom sheet is not too snug. Right now every time I change the bedding I know that I will break a nail or two trying to fit that too snug, fitted bottom sheet on my VERY thick mattress.
*
I have decided to purchase 500 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets that have a silk light feel. They have a classic woven stripe and are available in the ivory colour that I want.
The complete set of flat sheet, fitted bottom and two pillow cases is on sale right now for $180.00 plus tax.
I am going to buy two sets so that I can rotate them to prevent unnecessary wear.

After spending over $400.00 on this bedding; I hope I sleep better because if I don't, the sheet is going to hit the fan.

Wow, your sleep will be glorious (at least ,it had better be!).
If you sleepily murmer 'Teddy!' as you drift off to sleep I hope it's your husband's name!
Oh Bear, 500 thread count Egyptian cotton. Luxury! Enjoy!
Haha . .I'm a nice linen freak but I'm not sure I could sleep with so many teddy bears! Or pillows for that matter! My 'probably will be daughter in law' has a position in a linen shop . .15% discount . . tempting!
Dear Bear ~~ I hope you sleep much better with your new sheets. I would
hate to hear that the sheet hits the fan. It all sounds nice. Thanks for your visit and I am so glad you enjoyed the Pickle jar.It was a nice one. Take care, Love, Merle.
Ha! Sheet happens.
I'm sure you will bear-ly be able to get out of bed in the morning with 500-count sheets!
I think we have sheets like those! Sweet dreams;)
When I was young, the quality of the sheets I slept on was never a concern. But now that I am older, I really appreciate that silky feel. I know what you mean about sheets that are too tight, or too shallow to fit the newer deep mattresses.
We just bought a new mattress and WOW - talk about wrestling with an alligator when it comes to putting on the fitten sheet!! Where did you buy these deep pocket fitted sheets because I need some desperately... I spent a similar amount of $$ for a new set and the fitted sheet just barely fits... I have to use the little rubber snap grabber things for the corners. So, if you have a "source" please share!! LOL
Yikes ...
For that much they better wash/dry without wrinkles and be so soft you dont wanna get up
:-Daryl
I can "bearly" contain myself as I am laughing so hard from "the sheet hitting the fan"...so funny. I love your site and I love bears too. My 14 y/o is currently going through a monkey phase, so my house is a little banana's...I will be back to visit. (all my kid's are half canadian as their father was from Ontario...Cornwall...we are divorced now, but I still love Canada, Canadian Chocolate, and Curds!!!)
Just stopping by to tell you that I love your little bear animation at the bottom of your post, and the free rice banner in the left sidebar.
I love that site.
xx
Such luxury. They should give you a glorious nights sleep. Don't want the sheet hitting the fan that's for sure...LOL.
I bought sheets made from bamboo at Bed Bath and Beyond. I love them, so soft and a little stretchy so they fit easily over my thick California King mattress.
Great post.
old dude here could use some advice. I already knew that the higher the thread count the better the quality----but when shopping for sheets how does one know the pocket dimensions to allow for a thick mattress. I havn't had occassion to shop for sheets in a long time--is this statistic printed on the packages now?
I recently bought 300 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets thinking they would be soft. After one washing they were so wrinkled that they needed ironing. (I didn't iron them, of course). I was extremely disappointed.
Sometimes you can get quality sheets that fit your bed at a great discount at Tuesday Morning.
Gary, the measurements are on the package.
I saw a clever comment of yours at Chesepake Bay Woman's blog, so I came over to see you! Have you got your sheets all ready? I got 500 count sheets at Ross for 39.99. Do you have those where you live? We have a queen matress, but I bought King sheets just so we wouldn't have that whole bottom sheet issue and it has worked out perfectly! Good luck : ). Nice sheets are the best!
LOL at "sheet is going to hit the fan."
Are these the cutest sheets EVER? They should be!
At first I didn't realize they were bears--so cute! It's all very patriotic-looking.
I have a mattress just like you've described. It's so frustrating finding sheets for it. But, I recently ordered a pair of the Northern Nights 500-something TC from QVC (I despise QVC) and I adore them. They have elastic all the way around the fitted sheet so the sheet never slides. And I usually have to buy sheets for an 18" mattress and these fit perfectly.
I have no idea why I'm endorsing sheets.
good play on words those sheets are marvelous . But sometimes can sleep anywhere if I'm tired enough like last night sitting in chair..sk
I don't know what it is but there is nothing like GOOD sheets!
Certainly sounds like luxury so I hope you sleep well. I wouldn't dare spend a lot on bedding because the cats would wreck it!
